Buying Daiwa j braid from Aliexpress

Post by A Akkad » Wed Nov 11, 2020 11:27 pm

Hi
I was looking for a decently priced braid and I found daiwa j braid x8 grand on aliexpress and it's waaaay cheaper than the one sold on BCF. So my question is is it legit??

Links:

Aliexpress: https://m.aliexpress.com/item/32952610462.html

Cheers :-D

I'd doubt that this is the real deal as compared to the real Japanese JBraid.

Braid can be pretty expensive, but if you're treating it correctly it will last you a year or more.
For that little bit extra I think it's worthwhile using the right stuff so you don't loose the fish, or find out the cheaper stuff is rubbish.

I've done a fair bit of Aliexpress - but not brand name stuff. There are some obvious brand fakes on there like a tackle bag with Daiwa label printed on it, but my best guess would be the line is legit. Another thought is they could be legit but from a flawed batch possibly? Don't know if that is a thing Daiwa would do or not.

For "quality control" assurance - I look at the number of orders placed (that listing is over 2000 so :tu: ) and reviews (as bad as the translation feature is). If it was me, I'd get a spool of it and weight test it. $13 for the lighter/smaller size is not much of a wasted investment.

Thank you guys for the replies. I had already bought 2. Time will tell if it's the real deal, but how do you guys take care of your braided lines?
Just give it a quick wash or do I need to do some extra steps?

Cheers

Feeling it in store and reading dozens of reviews of it holding water and generally not being worth the money it’s sold for.

I buy my braid direct from Japan generally speaking. Every few years When there’s a sale on I’ll buy 10 spoils of a good braid and stick it in a box until I need it.

On my new stuff I buy I’ll run tasline to support a mates business venture.

You'll love the tasline, I've been running it for years and have had absolutely no issues and got a huge lifespan out of it

After countless hours of searching I found this review on YouTube. The YouTuber bought it from the same seller on Aliexpress. However, it's in Russian. It would be appreciated if a Russian spy from this forum can translate the report 🤣🤣.
