Absolute legends sharing the advice, agreed with Fish-cador's recent post.
You'll find BCF (haven't had one from Anaconda in a while) will send out free vouchers a few times a year if you're subscribed to their promotional material. Often they're like free $10, no minimum spend. They're always great to see in the inbox.

Thanks everyone for the comments and advice
reel, jig heads and soft plastics have arrived.
Now debating between waiting for my dodgy ebay brand 8lb braid to arrive which was significantly delayed, or spooling up on some older ebay braid I have its 0.14mm diameter and officially 15lb though could not hold more than 11lb in a line test. votes??

i've used ebay braid that looks the same as that, it was fine. not as good as the premium braids but i found it to be thin, strong and no issues.

Attempt 1
First time tried yesterday at st kilda pier 5-7pm 1/6th oz 2/0 jig heads berkely gulp turtle back worms in new penny and pulse worms in white
I got multiple small bites but couldn't hook any of them, just before leaving got a hook up of large pinkie but after 1.5 runs it just came of the hook.
any tips how to hook the fish and stop it from coming off.
thanks

keep your line tight. slack line, hook comes out.

make sure your drag wasn't to low, or to tight. to low and the line will be slack and to high and you will get pulled hooks.

No one lands every fish they hook up Shazac. Losing fish is just part of fishing - and it always seems like the best fish are the ones that you miss. Heed the advice about tight lines and if you start losing fish consistently don't be frightened to experiment with jig hook size. Stick at it mate and you'll catch your share.
Cheers, Col.
