Shimano Terez 7'2 20 - 50lb with Saragosa 8000

Post by crumpet_avenger » Tue Dec 27, 2022 2:54 pm

Had a bit of a rush of blood after winning some money on the horses over the weekend.

Decided to go to BCF and ended up walking away with what the topic says.

Anyone had any experience with these rods or reels?
Hopefully It's as good as it feels. The rod seems a bit lighter than my current Shimano Beastmaster setup(can't remember the weight)

My first decent rod and reel setup Ive purchased. I usually use cheap stuff. My snapper/gummy reel for the last 10 years have been a few shimano hyperloop. Even forked.out on some powerpro 50lb braid.

I was thinking about maybe trying to jig or troll for kingies with it?

I only fish westernport normally.

Any thoughts would be great. Heading out new years eve to christen it

My mate has the same rod but uses a daiwa on it great rod. I have 3 saragosa reels 2 x 10000 and 1 x 25000 great reels.

Thanks nude

It looks a nice little setup

Can't wait for sat night.

Hope I get a run on it to test it out. Even if it's a gummy or a schoolie.

I got a few wire traces after getting bit off 6 times last week. Reckon it was a big giller though

Perfect setup for Western Port. Far better to have in the hand on a big bastard ray than one of your old setups

It does have a nice action.
Now I just gotta figure out the braid aspect. First time ever using it. Always used mono.

I need a mono leader on braid? Tied directly or with a swivel?
I might google it after work this arvo

Just run the bog standard "westernport rig". Slide running on the braid for sinker, remove the clip and tie a roughly 20cm loop of shitty 20lb line, swivel, rod length mono leader of your choice to hooks of your choice. Regular old uni knot works fine with braid
