New rod suggestions
Hi guys, im looking for a new rod :D
itll be used for light soft plastics and for squid too
MUST be 2 piece mid join and 1-3kg or around that (like the 1-2kg rods ive seen around)
Budget around 250-300
itll be paired with a stradic fl 1000 most probably
any suggestions? Had a look at the itchy twitchy, and scratchy and they look nice, thoughts on them? ive no clue about shimano equivalents
cheers

Re: New rod suggestions
bit cheaper but ive owned a td hyper 1-3kg for a year and caught 100s of fish on it and never had any problems, awesome rod. I had a feel of the itchy twitchy and scratchy a while ago but i couldn't feel any difference between them to be honest.

Re: New rod suggestions
Rapala Mcxwell 7' 2pc 1-3 kg 30 Ton Graphite Blank Spin Fishing. I have had this rod for a couple of years now I just love it so light and casts really well. I also have the 4-7kg . In my opinion and many Trout fisherman in Tassie they are excellent. About a $120.00 lots df change left over for a few plastics as well.

Always take a good look at what you are about to eat. It’s not so important to know what it is .but it’s critical to know what it was.

Re: New rod suggestions
This is the tricky part.
1-3kg rods have light casting weight range (usually 1-9g), while those squid jigs can be heavy (e.g. 2.5 squid jig usually around 11g.).
For both plastic and squid jig, I'd say 2-4kg rod be more ideal.
Some 1-3kg rods have casting weight more than 9g, like NS Amped and Zodias, but often they are stiff / very fast action to be used for squid. If you're not too fussy, then any rods will do, but I still recommend 2-4kg if you're to use them for plastic and squid.
I used itchy twitchy before, the old model though, it was okay for the price (bought on sale), caught bream on plastic with it.
Checkout 2020 Tcurve, I reckon it'll be a good plastic and squid rod, it's two piece but the joint is just before the first ring from the handle.

Re: New rod suggestions
No worries.
Sounds like you know what you're doing, just becareful casting those heavy squid jigs with more expensive rods.
More expensive rods tend to have more graphite materials, faster/stiffer. While you still can cast more than the ideal weight, just gotta be more gentle, you can break the tip otherwise. Don't abuse it like using a Catana or fibreglass rods.
Breaking $200-$300 rod be more painful than breaking a $60 rod.
