Out with the old and in with the new

Post by Tackleberry » Thu Feb 11, 2021 11:48 pm

Well for the last 3 years I have been toying with the idea of upgrading my main bait caster a late 80s Daiwa millionaire series PMA35 I will stand corrected but I think it was the first reel with Mag force anti-backlash .
well today my new tatula ct 100hs baitcaster showed up so I quickly spooled that up took it out on Lake Victoria.
Pity no fish but wow haven't baitcasters come a long way since the late 80s absolute dream to use any idiot could use one .

Nice - how many (or how little) grams were you casting?

Braking systems have come a long way in the last few years for sure. I picked up a Shimano SLX DC and Abu Revo S last year, as far as spool control they leave my 5yo Shimano Curado behind and kill my 10yo budget Pfluger.

I am no expert but 4 grams seems to be as low as I can go with any useful range in the areas I fish .

It is the cheapest and nastiest mono 6 lb I've had it for like 15 years very hard stuff great abrasion resistance for it's size it cost about $6 for 1300m

Over the last 20 years or so this stuff has been sold under different brands . lasts for years no matter how much you flog the stuff knots need a lot of lubrication .

Yes if anything it is very plain looking but performs a hell of a lot better than it looks.
