Shimano Equivalent

shimano fanboys..
Whats the equivalent of the Certate LT models in the shimano range
what model of their lineup is in the same league as the Certates or say caldias, TD sol LT models
I don’t really have an intended use as such for now.
but it will more than likely live on the 3-6kg or a 4-8kg stick
id say a 3000 shimano or the 4000LT sizing would be a good match to those rods which is the gap i have in my arsenal..

Certate=Twinpower. Luvias=Sustain. Sol=Vanford. Caldia=Stradic. Exsence=Morethan. Stella=Exist.
The Vanford ( or the older Stradic ci4) is an anomaly as it's Shimanos body equivalent of a Luvias, but a much cheaper price

For the shimano equivalent of a certate I'd say you are looking at a twinpower, the latest model they have released fits into a similar mold of being a smaller reel that can comfortably punch above its weight. Size wise things get a bit awkward imo, I personally believe that the 2508/2510 size from daiwa was the ideal for a 3-5/3-6kg rod being a bit bigger than shimanos 2500/3000 size but not as big as the 4000 size. If you are wanting to go shimano it comes down to preference a bit more and I would try to chuck a couple of different reels on there and see how you find it.

Thats an option as well at this stage, but i doubt ill go the extra mile for it..
maybe a second hand one if the price is right..

yeah i wish daiwa didnt change the sizing 2510 would be ideal, enough drag and with todays Braid technology can easily fit a bit more line capacity to take advantage of the shallow spool.
the daiwa LT 4000 however sits in a good spot, between the 2.5k-3k in the old sizing
im not really sure what sizes the shimano have that will suit the daiwa LT4k, 3k was my guess but im not sure about it as i havent owned many shimano reels.

I haven't had much to do with the lts but from shimano a 3000 is just a bigger spool on a 2500 which is pretty useless for the style of fishing that you do. I've put 200m of 12lb tasline (breaks at 20lb and is approx PE 1) on a 2500 shimano any bigger spool and it's really just extra backing for most of the fish round here

The stradic ci4 is on sale for 299 which is also a nice reel for the price.

Try and find a Stradic FJ better than the Ci4. I've still got a 2500FJ brand spanking new in the box.
