hey,
im back. i fished for 2 hours and caught 2 rainbow trout. both were under sized and unfortunately i gut hooked both of them and they died. the first one was 20 cm and i didn't measure the other one. i got nothing on my ultra light gear but i did get a few hits. noting on poppers but lots of bites and action on the bait rod. i was using worms i found in my paddock and some baby cicadas. but the Ultra light performed very well and i cant wait to get out there again. i think the trout got gut hooked because i was using hooks that were small, I'll get some bigger hooks soon. the bait rig was just 6 lb braid as the mainline, Albright knotted to some 2 kilo mono leader, with a float and a split shot.

cheers,

Baby cicadas, can you get me some in spring for the bass in my river? I forgot to tell you to bring some powerbait, that lake is stocked with rainbows and they love pink powerbait. Well done on captures by the way

do you live rural? or somewhere where you know there's has been cicadas? because i just dug a few cm in the ground looking for worms, on the side of a small dried up river bank. i found them and didn't know what they where so i googled it and it said they were baby cicadas. they worked well on the hook mate.

i just had a look, they dont have a minimum size, i never new that. i always thought they had to be above 30 cm. but maximum size is 35 cm for family fishing ponds. i dont like the taste of trout, so i dont really have a point in keeping them.
