Great review Sebb!
I think you're spot on with sharing a review, the more information and experience the better! Hopefully it's not too long till you've got a squid on the end of it!

I feel the most important thing when you're doing some land-based EGI is comfort, if your rod is digging into your hands, heavy, it's just not going to be enjoyable. Glad you've found a perfect balanced combo which I'm sure will work a dream! Eva foam grips are a real treat to use.

They may just be squid, but it's all about the experience. When you're fishing some land-based EGI and you feel a squid throw a few sharp strikes at the jig, those small taps before striking and feeling that solid pulse, that's a great feeling. When you're winding in and you catch a dark silhouette from the corner of your eye come out of no-where a grab the jig, it's energizing. It's everything, from feeling the resistance of the current against the jig, sight casting squid over weed, or just those spontaneous one squid after another sessions, they're the fishing experience were all dreaming for. A good rod makes that experience so much sweeter.
You're not wrong!

Especially this bit:

Also applicable for other style of fishing too ofc. E.g. making 1000 casts for murray cod is much more bearable with a nice light rod and reel.
100%, I think that's the biggest thing I noticed going to a more expensive rod. Used to get a dead arm or sore back standing the whole session, that's a thing of the past now. You can't underrate a sensitive rod when you're directly working the action.

I want to know more about the Emma AGS... how does it compare to these models .

I did find the sephia was lighter than the base model emeraldas. But I found the sephia (old model) too stiff for my liking.
The differences like reel seat covers makes or breaks for me. I hate exposed reel seats like the basic Fuji ones where the spirals get to you eventually. Small issue but makes a big difference to me.

The working curve of the rod really comes into its own when you hook the aircraft carriers..
A really good smooth drag is almost as important..

Hoping to update my base model emeraldas to something a bit better eventually.

Lets hope we're allowed out soon, prime kraken opportunity is being wasted..

Totally different level compared to the others, very light, very sensitive. Pretty stiff though. Seems like all the emmas are stiff. But man, it's like its from a different planet.
When I held and played around with them at the store, from X to MX was like "oh yeah, the MX is better" then I the AGS was like "ZOMG... This is God's weapon, kraken slayer."

That's exactly what I meant about the handle. The spiral thing leaves mark on my hand.

I know right. You and me and many of us. Aug-Sept is usually the best time.

Yes he does. They all do I guess, as they think we're playing with them.

I prefer to fish a ML weight. I will either get an AGS Emma or the yamashita Egido. Or something similar eventually.
