Certate=Twinpower. Luvias=Sustain. Sol=Vanford. Caldia=Stradic. Exsence=Morethan. Stella=Exist.

The Vanford ( or the older Stradic ci4) is an anomaly as it's Shimanos body equivalent of a Luvias, but a much cheaper price
yeah i was thinking the twin power.
do the shimano have a high gear model for it.
By daiwa standards they all are

shimano a 3000 is just a bigger spool on a 2500 which is pretty useless for the style of fishing that you do. I've put 200m of 12lb tasline (breaks at 20lb and is approx PE 1) on a 2500 shimano any bigger spool and it's really just extra backing for most of the fish round here

Yeah I am aware of the 2500 body with a bigger spool for the 3k but that's as much as I know.
But is the internals the same as the 2500 reel
Or is it like some daiwas where the bigger gears are in a smaller body.

This reel if I do get it, will be pushed hard so need the line capacity and drag to match.

If you're meaning like Daiwas 2500R reels with the 3000 gear sets then no, Shimanos are all 2500 sized gears with the larger rotors and spools. That said, you'd be pretty hard pressed to destroy pinions and main gears in the middle and up price bracket C3000 Shimanos, they're more than capable of withstanding max drag. They've only been making gears for reels and bikes for decades

Try and find a Stradic FJ better than the Ci4. I've still got a 2500FJ brand spanking new in the box.
Thanks mate, but too heavy to be used as a lure reel where repeated casting is the norm.
great reel though, almost bought one as my first ever lure reel, and some knuckle head showed me a Daiwa Caldia (white model)
the rest is history!!!

No they don't drop acid like Daiwa often do so a new 3000 Stella is still a 2500 with bigger spool the same as it was 20 years ago. Same goes for a 4000, 10000 or whatever size you wanted

Thanks guys, now to start Looking for a suitable candidate.
anything else i need to be aware of, like a spool compatability etc..
similar to like the daiwa 2500, 2506, 2508, 2510 fitting the same body sorta stuff?
i think ill look at the 3000 size, 4K might be too big i recon.

The 3000 isn't a bigger spool it is just cut deeper .

Well there you go. Back in the old days (before this whole "compact 3000" naming) they were slightly wider rotors and spools. But a c3000 Sustain FI is 10 grams lighter on paper than the 2500 Sustain FI. Same weight for a 4000 and a c5000. Mind blown

In Aus, no. You have to go JDM if you want S or SS shallow spools. Or find a Yumeya aftermarket shallow spool

If the 2500 spool and rotor are the same size but just deeper cut on the 3k, then im guessing those spools should technically be interchangeable between the 2.5 and 3k bodies ??

I'm not sure whether to get a 2.5 or 3k in the shimano..
Not being able to go and physically look at the sizes makes things a bit difficult atm..
