Holding gears until ~5000? No other car except the Subies I've been in holds out that long.

The new cvt holds rpm at whatever it changes into 2nd at (say 2900rpm) all the way until 6th or you back off theaccelerator. First time I drove one I pooped my pants when looked and seen the Speedo read 140km/h on Frankston freeway just after springy road. You dont feel the gear changes at all it's effortless

Depends on the amount of throttle applied but not uncommon.
