Keeping our 'Trading Post' section friendly!

Post by Rod Bender » Thu May 28, 2015 9:32 pm

HI peeeeeeples
Just getting some ideas on how people think our 'for sale' a section should be used. The idea is to get a thread 'stickied' at the top of the section. So I am going to start the ball rolling. When we finalise it I may delete all comments from this thread (of course taking them into consideration and editing good ideas into this post) and then sticky the thread. So if you have some additions you want or don't agree with, fire away!

This is what I have got!

Selling/buying etiquette.

If selling:

Don't try and sell anything unless you are a contributing member. You don't have to be a multiple poster...just don't use the section until you have racked up a few posts. You can not use the pm function until you have posted 10 times anyway.

Put your location in the initial post...even if it is on your profile.

Include price and if you are flexible with price.

Include details re: cost of postage (buyers expense or included in price)

Provide a good description, specs etc as well as condition and pics are essential in most cases!

This section if for use for members who have items no longer required. This section is not for members to purchase items online with the intent of selling them here for a profit. If you want to do this, contact Jon regarding being a site sponsor.

If looking at buying:

If the seller has stated that they are not flexible with price...do not haggle.

If they have not said anything and you believe the price is a bit high...then by all means haggle within reason.

If you believe the item is grossly overpriced and the member is trying to rip members off...then pm a mod/admin with your concerns (don't post on the thread) and the thread will be removed if it is the case. If someone buys a reel for $150 new and tries to sell it for $140 unused, I do not consider this a rip off. If someone is selling a reel for $180 and you know it can be purchased anywhere for less...this is what we want to hear about.

i think, the guidelines you set out, are good... and if posts dont meet those guidelines.. then that post should be deleted.. and corrected.

possibly delete old posts after a month too?? so the Trading Post is always with current things.

and frivolous junk messages should go too(meaning idle commentary etc), so you dont have to troll through heaps of messages that are really not related.

Great tips Jim!
Maybe add under selling, updates. I know some members do this already but for those that don't know or are new. "Sold pp" or "on hold"... etc
I dunno, just thought it might contribute to the sticky.

That sounds good
