Lost a rod as soon as I got there -.- got back my trusty veritas sadly the Orra s20 is rooted. Caught plenty of small mullet but only managed a few bream. I might add the bream were all nice fat n healthy 32cm+ fish

Few other blokes around fishing with squid for no takes..

Fished from 6:30 to 3:45am

The quest continues

I brought down my light rod I use for carp (Abu Garcia veritas 1-3kg combo) love it what a rod!! Chucked on some chicken on a size 12 hook grabbed my other rod to setup for bream an before I could even get the braid through the guides the veritas was buckled over reel scream in hand eye coordination just wasn't up to par it pulled out the holder n sank. Dropped to my knees n threw my arm in but just outta reach..

So as shattered as I was I continued to setup for bream once casted I grabbed my snapper rod (for Jews) put on a size 4 bean n a 5/0 hook n dragged it around n I eventually pulled up some red braid (veritas) unfortunately the 6lb leader busted n had no hook on it but I got a great rod back! The reel is rooted but still managed to catch another 2 bream on it.. And a few mullet before packing it away

After that I put the rod holders aside n just used the ever annoying bells

That sucks, at least you got the rod back. You might be able to salvage the reel if you get it serviced.

Probably not worth enough to warrant getting it professionally serviced. But Take the reel completely apart. Soak all the gears and bearings in a solvent (watch out for rubbers) Clean out the rest of the reel. Regrease it and put it back together.

At worst you stuff it up and it remains bricked. At best you get a good insight into cleaning and fully servicing a reel and you Save the reel.

Yeah spinning gear isn't really complicated. Just lay it out in front of you as you go and just reverse it when you're ready to put it together.

Damn - that's annoying. I use bait runners for landbased fishing these days - generally they make things a bit safer!

By the way, forgot to ask - how did you catch the mullet? I haven't seen any for ages ... unless I'm doing something wrong.
