As these are a boat with a motor , do they require to be registered ? , and do you still have to carry all the safety gear you do on a normal boat ?.

Yes they do. Just like you need a licience if you add an electric motor to a yak.

I am a bit rusty on the national regs but any sort of motor on the boat and it will have to have Vic registration and licenced operator.
NSW used to be pretty laid back and you could have a small (up to 5 hp I think) and no license or reg it may have changed.
This sort of boat will only take a small outboard..well the portabote is only made for about 6hp.
BUT if this boat is light you will have a surprising turn of speed with lower hp.
