I have a 4.5 m tinny & take it offshore with no issues if the conditions are good, you just need a bit of common sense in deciding to go out or not, Keep a good eye on the weather reports and the current speed (Gippsland Ports website) for crossing the bar. I have taken this boat off shore from Merimbula, Eden, and through Port Phillip heads, you just need to pick your day.
Cheers.

I regularly take my 4m seawasp into Bass strait but ONLY when conditions are favourable. Have added a long range fuel tank and a second bilge pump for peace of mind.

As mentioned previously, a 6m+ boat will be better suited for offshore as the weather can easily turn.

What boat you choose ultimately depends on your appetite for risk.

I have a 469 stacer cc with 75hp evinrude, I only ever go out on port phillip bay. Its a pretty stable boat in my opinion. Would like a little more space. Got caught on ppb in 18 knot plus winds, was never in any danger but wasnt comfortable. Got off the water as soon as i could

If it’s too rough for a 4.69, it’s gunna be uncomfortable in anything. Having your boat maintained well, motor in order, and an extra battery are more important than size. Oh, and a good serve of common sense. Bigger boats are harder to manage and store/garage, harder to tow, use exponentially more fuel, and cost more to service. I initially bought, and will never go bigger than my 4.75 with 75 2 stroke.

Well I've been out in it the last 2 days and it is just as dry a boat as the 3 haines hunters I've had now if someone had told me that I would not believe it .
Having said this I see a lot of these with 60hp and the small block yammy 70hp and I my opinion it would turn the boat into a pig the merc 75 tourqe suits this hull very well .
And this is another reason I had to get back on the water this is what I miss the most having this to my self .

Just they're small ones 2 seawasps one with Johnson 25 and one with a merc 25 and a 445R with a 90 Johnson.
Both models punch way above there length.
