My main driver behind why I am doing this is that I have found quiet a few salt bubbles under the paint and I am hoping this would prevent that from happening.

On another note, any one have any idea on how to bog up spots of corrosion on the aluminium. I am planning to send the surface and repaint but not sure if I should use some sort of rust killer, fill it with sika marine etc.

Placing an anode on the hull wont stop the paint bubbles
My boat from new now 4 years old has bubbles
Its because the manufacturing paint process used an under coat but no Etch primer on the alloy first
I stuck anti slip on the Gunwhales to cover the bubbles

I was going to use this is my primer, thoughts? Bloody expensive though (the final coat of paint is probably double the price) :(

What about back filling any corroded spots, any ideas on how I can do that?

Even with that primer you will get bubbles
You have to rub the boat back to bare metal then put Etch Primer on then put primer on then at least 2 coats of over coat
The etch primer bonds to the alloy and holds the primer on

You can sand it back to bare metal.
Etch prime and paint. Nothing in a spray can will ever be as durable as a professional job.
Tefgel and or sikaflex are a good idea around fixings.

Well I have started stripping parts off the boat and will sand, sika everything, prime and paint and then hope for the best.

I’ve only ever had the one boat but am curious to what you all prefer, aluminium or fibre glass? And why?

On my merry googling, I have just come across aluminium welding rods.

Typical YouTube, makes it look super easy as if you are using a soldering iron. I’m curious to know if anyone has used them before.
