Wheel bearing tool

Post by Nude up » Wed Mar 09, 2022 9:56 am

After reading the revamped post on wheel bearings I thought I would post a picture or a tool I borrowed from a friend which makes installing the cup part of the bearing a piece of cake . It comes with different sizes I think they cost about a $100 dollars I personally am going to buy one I do a few mates trailers

Another way to do it on the cheap is to cut a slit into an old bearing race of the same size and use it as a drift to insert your new race. Once it’s seated correctly it is easy to remove the drift because of the slit in it. It looks like the tool in the photo is the correct tool for the job and would also be handy for installing bearing seals without damaging them.

I have machined an old race slightly smaller than the hubs and it makes punching out the old race a piece of pi5s
