Queenscliff Boat ramp.

Post by Yota » Thu Jun 18, 2020 10:11 pm

Always good when there’s talk of an upgrade, generally.
See here - https://www.shipmate.com.au/news/design ... boat-ramp/

I could be sceptical but there’s a lot of line marking and shuffling of the existing parking bays. Turning a grass area into an solid ashphalt or whatever brick surface is mentioned.
My point to raise is - the plan says “removal of wash bays” is an upgrade ?
I use the wash bays when they are available/free and find it very useful to at least be able to flush the engine before a 2 hour drive home. If it’s not busy I give the tub and trailer a quick rinse to.
Am I missing something?
Why is this removal of a wash facility an upgrade ?
There’s no proposal for a cleaning table, not that I use them but whenever there’s mention of a ramp upgrade I would have thought it would be a good idea.
There’s no mention of any works to maintain or create a satisfactory depth around the “widened pontoons”. When it’s busy there’s not much water area out front of the ramp to sit around in a deep V boat and wait your turn.

Yes the best way to have your input is to get involved I see that. I’m just wondering if I’m on my own with these ideas ?

Looking at the plan the wash down is not going. The plan looks good to me 3 lanes and some dredging can only be a good thing.

I thought 7 is the wash down where it is now and they are putting a fish cleaning station behind the toilets.

If you follow the betterboating link within the shipmate link in my first post it mentions improvement of the boat engine flush facility- so I'm happy. Maybe the first shipmate link is a 1st stage of the end result ?

Ok so I'm still waking up after night shift, but now I see there are 2 options listed in the 2 diagrams.
Option 1 has the wash bays.
Option 2 removes the wash bays.
