Feeling stupid and sore.

Post by Nude up » Sat May 16, 2020 11:59 am

I finished night shift 0600 got home about 0715, got out of bed 1230 quick lunch connect up the boat head down to point richards boat ramp. The ramp is packed and its low tide and the weed build up is horrendous.
I waited my turn backed the boat in boat came off the trailer easily but I couldn't back around the parked boats due to the weed. I tried to get the boat back to the jetty but I was stuck with the bow of the boat close to the jetty.
I walked around rope in hand and I could touch the jetty I had 1 leg inside the bowrail 1hand and 1leg on the slimy jetty I bent down to attach the rope to the fwd attach point when disaster happened my foot on the jetty slipped and down I went.
Luckily my leg inside the bow rail did not get stuck it just ripped my shoe off but my right hand shoulder hit the jetty.

When I surfaced from my dip I knew I was in trouble I couldn't move my arm. I couldn't climb up the ladder so I got to the ramp and walked out, luckily one of my neighbours was at the ramp and drove my boat back on to my trailer. A complete stranger to me said he had a Landcruiser and towed my boat into the Carpark he asked me where I lived and he lived 2 streets away.
He drove my car home and backed the boat into the driveway. I couldn't drive do my seat belt and was in real pain.

My wife drove me to the Epworth in Geelong I felt every bump take off and stop 40k. I went straight in x rayed and I had dislocated my shoulder some really good drugs and I was out like a light when I woke up my arm was in a sling. My wife drove me home 4 and a half hours later.
I sit here this morning and my left leg huts and my right shoulder is very sore just my luck yesterday was my 1st day of a 28 day stand down.

Far out , , , , sorry to hear about your misfortune Nude up :(

The positive thing about it all is that there were some good Samaritans to lend you a hand :tu: Sounds like a Six Pack and some Roses are in order (don't get them mixed up though , , , , Beers for the Neighbour and Roses for the Mrs :-D )

Truth be told, all of us at one point or another have had some close calls, some we got lucky with and some not so. I feel for you, especially with the long wait to get out there and cast a line.

Cheers, Bugs

That is a S^%$ thing to happen, could have been worse Get well soon.
There's nothing . . . absolutely nothing . . . half so much worth doing as simply messing around in boats.
