It's probably because you're taking them sideways with you phone. either take them with the phone upright or spin them on the phone before you upload
They were taken in portrait mode and are right way up on my phone... ah well

Are you going to be re-covering the deck with anything?

I made a post ages ago about removing the carpet from my deck because i hate carpet on the floor (its gets wet, squid ink etc). So far i have removed all the carpet, but i havent put anything new down just yet. I am either going to use Norglass Marine Deck Paint or KiwiGrip non slip deck paint. Im leaning towards KiwiGrip but havent got around to it yet.

A big part of me wants to go with with sea deck or equivalent. But I’ll be flow coating and speckling the deck anyway. We’ll see what happens

Knocked up a rough template for the front step today and cut it out of ply. Then went and found some cardboard because timber is a pita for doing templates. Ignore the long bits that look out of place. I just left the length on the timbers I was using.

Tomorrow I’ll pick up some 3mm mdf. New jigsaw blades and some router bits and I’ll keep working on the front step and then side pockets as time goes on. Hopefully have the motivation to get those sorted out by the end of the week. Then it’s time to go buy some fibreglass.

Got my first feel for the fibreglass itch today. Just finished cutting out the old tiller steer seat holders.

Also had a crack for the first time with a jogglestick. Knocked it up to get the shape right on the front step. Was bloody impressed with the way it turned out for a first crack.

Just a sec. Gonna image host from now on. Direct upload can get stuffed. It’s just randomly flipping pics.

That’s a google pic link. Can’t work out how to post as an image. Will keep playing.

Imgur to the rescue

Image
So this is a jogglestick. Or something. Could be called something else. You use it to measure out weird shapes. Essentially you have a pointer and a few marks and you stick it hard into the end of the shape then trace the marks. You can then transfer it to another piece.

Image
Clamp that piece onto a bigger piece of ply and start marking the dots

Image
Connect the dots. I used something Flexy so I could get smooth sweeps as opposed to sharp lines.

Image
Cut out. Straight in. No lube. Happy days. Rapt with my first use of one.

Image
Ground out the old seat mounts. Time to start shaping side pockets

No real progress this week with work. Knocked up first templates for side pockets this morning. But a new toy has come today. Apart from a couple gelcoat chips in it couldn’t be happier with the size and height.

Doesn’t everyone work on their boat in chinos and a shirt?
