Used boat recomendation 5 to 5.8 mt range
Re: Used boat recomendation 5 to 5.8 mt range
Hello Cobby,
Thanks for the update on 'coosa board'
Been going through your updated condensed list your quite accurate on the the types & market values.
I know one shouldn't go off asthetics alone but the Haines Signature 530F is a belter.

Re: Used boat recomendation 5 to 5.8 mt range
Haines Signature 530F is a brilliant hull, one of the best 17ft every made.
It is a fair way from a 5.5-5.8m boat though.

To quote cobby
"If it is strictly for the bays only and zero chance of going offshore unless it's that 1 day a year where there's absolutely no wind, even going 4.5-5m sized hulls will do fine. And then you open up newer versions that are less likely to have issues"
this sums it up pretty well
Actually my header post states from 5 mt not 5.5 mt

G'dat Matt,
Actually this is about the 3 rd time gone on the hustings since the 80's when I used to fish PPB
in club boats, came close once at the Boat Show Exhibition buildings me & a mate thought it'd
be cool to go halves in a Bertram, that didn't happen once his misses found out !
My interests went away from fishing for years, but a mate in Sydney has been involved with
boats & repairing them for years so I used to keep tabs with him.
But he's a Ally man only had one or two glass hulls.
** PS ** That Haines Signature 530F up top wasn't my doing it's one of the hulls that Cobby recomended
Boatsales ad, very cluey guy mr cobby good to have knowledgable guys on here makes whittling
down easier.

Whilst true bigger still offers more days you can go, more space, more stability, more comfort etc.taipan wrote: ↑Mon Feb 03, 2020 6:10 pmTo quote cobby

Go as big as you can afford, store and tow.
We have the same hull as the 530F with a different top deck nothing short of exceptional rough water performance.
Re: Used boat recomendation 5 to 5.8 mt range
If I was 20yrs younger probably would look into the "biggies" but getting long in the tooth now,
not only the actual boat size in consideration but what I can handle physically ok.
Havn't discounted the 'dark side' either Ally
