:o_0: That's pretty scary stuff.

Heard matt cassars boat copped it at coota over the weekend. Boat in pretty bad shape and had to be dragged over the rock bar.
Supposedly didnt hit the sandbar..

Anyone know what happened? Cobby?

On a lighter note managed to do something I havent done before.
Left the secondary bung between the dual skins open and went out. Didnt realise it was missing till.i got back home.
Thank **** for foam filled hull with dual skins
Water is still draining out from.it drop by drop

The big concern I have (why I posted this in the first place) is often near misses are posted on facebook etc and more than half of the comments are boaties saying they did a good job. The reality is they did a bad job and were lucky.

With the second incident the motor was either still running or restarted and they could have saved it but didn't. It was painful to watch.

have a feeling second incident the hull was too flooded and weighed down to actually do anything quickly

I know one copped it, saw a post about it of Facebook. A pro ab diver, with good knowledge of the ramp/area.

In the vid, simple, should not have been there. If you are going out to recreational fish. Never go if conditions are a bit dodgy, you are going for fun. Smashing out through breakers isn't fun. Don't do it. Regarding pro divers and fishers there is some commercial pressure, this leads to occasional bad judgement. As an ex commercial operator I can say I have made those bad judgements and suffered the consequence. That is what leads to "experience".

Sort of but if you cross bars you will eventually find yourself against an unexpected vertical wall of water.

Knowing how to deal with that safely is basic seasmanship skills.

Both those boats could have safely passed those exact waves if driven correctly and the second boat could have recovered.
