Makes sense when fixing the holes is the cheaper option.

Don't like etecs, never have and especially after the few I've encountered. And there's no weight or cost benefit compared to the 4 stroke.

i believe mercury and mariner use the Tohatsu motors in the 30hp and under models.
theres always the tohatsu TLDI if you dont want the Etec or dont want to spend more $$ on the Optimax.

Tohatsu has always been renowned for being a super reliable almost commercial grade outboard, so you can't go wrong with one. :thumbsup:
The big 4 strokes above 60hp are now re branded Honda outboards.

yeah thats what i was told by the dealer i was buying the boat from, never heard much of them prior to that, so started to do research and yep. sure enough the guy wasnt lying, so i got one
they are owned by nissan, and invented the first outboard.

and yes i believe 60hp and above 4 strokes are rebadged honda motors
