Any idea how the prices compare to Extreme, McLay and other top line plates?

I’ve got a Stabi 1650 (basically the same as 1850), I’ll take you out for a spin if they ever let us out of our houses & you keep 1.5 meters away from me.
What’s the furthest you’ve taken it offshore? Would you do a canyon trip in it chasing swords, fuel/weather dependent of course?
I took it 10km off seal rock last year & thought I was pretty awesome until a guy in a yak with a sail went past. I do feel safer in it than a glass boat, it would be pretty hard to sink and handles well in the rough....it’s also really stable at rest & doesn’t move when you’re hanging off the side. They are kind of like an ugly woman, they perform better than the pretty ones.

Page won’t load but it’s an aqua 565 with a white merc. Bowl posted an unfinished pic of it earlier in the thread.

Between that and Black Ops I reckon I reckon I’d be making a few calls if I won lotto. Lol.

It should be said that not many haines fans are fans of haines in the past 15 years. What they are producing now is **** quality compared to the other glass boats on the market.

Id prefer a brand new stabi to a brand new haines. But id prefer to rebuild an old girl haines over them all.
I would happily buy a new whittley or haines signature.

Haines Hunter have some great models 650 classic from a few years back and the new 565 looks like a great boat as well.

Stabi 1850 hardtop decked out ready to fish: barely any change from 90k.
Mclay 571 hardtop decked out ready to fish: around 70k
Extreme 545 cuddy ready to fish: around 70k
Extreme 605 game king (much bigger than 1850): just over 100k

Yes, yes it is. Even though it's a 565L cuddy now, it was originally a 565F centre console that was falling apart

Some very interesting reading over the last 5 pages :o_0:

A couple of things I have learnt over Easter..

-There is a man called Jon Maslin who owns a boat and everyone wants to have a flog when they see it at the ramp.
-Forum members are prepared to beat the **** out of each other defending there glass and alloy boats.

In all seriousness I appreciated the feedback from everyone but I am definitely not new to boating and know the pros and cons to both alloys and glass boats.

But I will comment on the Stabi 1850. I had the pleasure of fishing in one of Portland for 3-4 days, a couple of years back and I have to say here and now, if you've not been in one when the weather turns to absolute shite, then don't comment.
They are an absolute beast,,,and in my opinion, there rough water performance is up to and probably better that some 6mtr range fibre glass boats I've been in, but people forget, that's indeed what there built for.
Blacklab, this is hhuuggeeeee call to make throwing a spanner in the works for me, before this comment I had my mind set at a glass boat. I'm like a lot of forum members here, I love my glass boats old and new. Theres nothing like seeing an old Haines V19 or V17 done up. I actually went to McQuarrie's not long ago and had a chat to Kane and his dad about what it would cost to re-do an old V19R, my estimate to buy a boat and have the work done on it came back at probably around 80k give or take I you wanted it to be schmick. Theres a lot of boats around for $80k and I myself dont want to personally spend that much.

I'm going to have to take a Stabi for a test ride before I make any decisions, I just might have to take Mattblack up on his offer. :ch:

Robbie, I'm an old school fibreglass man myself, nothing looks sweeter than an older fibre Glass boat restored and mod'ed, But if I was to drop some large coin on a newish boat, it would not be a fibre glass boat and Stabi would be top of the pecking order.......
The only way to scratch the itch is to test ride, that is the same for any boat purchase, It completely changed my view on boats spending a few days out wide fishing in one, that's for sure. Forget the " oooh it's ugly" brigade, there's a fair few of them around, when there at home they stand in front of a mirror having personal moments as well, There's no mirrors out at sea and in my opinion it's purely about performance, not looking like a twat at the boat ramp. There's a trade off with every boat, most of the "classics" have huge trade offs, absolutely brilliant with there weight and deep V, but try anchoring up for a fish !! the Stabi has no such bad traits, just got to get over the look, which I have already, plus you would be hard pressed to find another with the resale value that they get.
Have a play in all of them and don't be pursuaded by those who have never even been in one but offer up excuses as to why you shouldn't consider a brand,, that's my philosophy on things, do your own leg work...........Good luck

Col
