Best anchor winch for a small boat

Post by Kestrel » Mon Nov 04, 2024 5:16 pm

Hi folks
I've just purchased a second hand Stessl 4.6m centre console timmy as a project.
It doesn't yet have an anchor winch but I'd like to fit one.
Any suggestions for a good winch for that size boat?
Cheers
K

Lone star GX1.
Then you got one for life if you sell the boat keep it as its good enough for a bigger boat

No probs ...... it won't be cheap but it will do up to a 6m boat so keep it when you upgrade.

G'day Denis I have a sarca #2 and was not all that impressed with it in my 16" tinny then put 5m of 8mm short link chain on it and what a difference then a mate told me that's what they recommend :rf: now it holds great in the sand .
I had a .5 on my 4.2 blufin and that thing was underrated as it held that boat in all kinds of slop..
But I'm still not game to use a $250 anchor on the reef so I still just use the old bent prong gal ones .

On the lone star winch and SARCA anchor you gotta use the 7m of chain
I ve had 25 boats big and small all have drifted of the the anchor spot-Except for the one now
