Where are they?

Post by Wolly Bugger » Thu Jun 09, 2011 2:02 pm

Lately I have been drawing a blank on the salmon.

So has anyone been catching any?

Gunnamatta, Rye and St Andrews all had fish the past week apparently. Upto 1.66kg with the average around 1kg

Just got back from Rye, caught two small ones. Side current extremely strong.

The salmon seem to be quiet at the moment as I have been unsuccessful for sometime too --- concentrating more on the squid now.

Got up early down at the beach at the crack of dawn, freezing my butt off, with the daughter complaining rather loudly about how cold it was, I'd get a break every so often as she headed off to the car to get warm.

Sacrificed my only gloves for a little peace and quiet.

It was rather picturesque seeing the sea mist, curling back onto the water. The sea was flat with that oily appearance. The a single wave would loam out of the mists.

Gave it away about 9 without a single bite.

Headed off again this afternoon managed two small salmon, on chicken, pippis and blue bait were loved to death by the crabs.

Oh well there is always tomorrow.

The 90mile beach is a good reliable producer in winter or try Marengo beach on the western side . :)

Planned to go fishing this morning, so went despite all the wind. Should have stayed home lost two rigs and one lure to the dreaded killer weed.

Now time for a hot cup of coffee and an afternoon snooze.
