Love chasing Salmon on the backbeaches in the surf.
Winter time is Salmon time.

I absolutely love my winter Salmon fishing!
Whether it’s casting metals for them from the surf or using plastics from a local pier or trolling for them from my boat it’s all fun and something I really enjoy doing 👍🏻

The salmon are going to be crazy in the bay. I've been overseeing a job on a private pier in Willamstown where we are scrapping 2 barges so i've spent the past 2 weeks right on the water.

I've been seeing huge schools of salmon busting up everywhere. Not so much since we had the big rain because there has been heaps of dirty water hanging around the area, but the week before there was heaps of action.

Love catching them on super light tackle. Float fishing for them off the rocks is my favourite way of fishing.

I don't "primarily" target them as a stand alone trip. I do though target them as a targeted by-catch , , , , if that makes sense.
Also if it works out "convenient", on holiday trips away, if we hear near by there are Salmon about, then yes, we make the little trip from the holiday location BUT not specifically from Adelaide just for the Salmon.

While Mully Fishing, Salmon are a good by-catch, not just for bait but also for munchies. If out in the boat and we notice a bust up, then away we cast :-D

Mate Don does a Salmon Mornay that is awesome, but equally on the Charcoal Grate with the standard Greek "Lemon, Oregano & Olive Oil" basting :tu:

Cheers, Bugmon

With you on the charcoal grill, Bugmon!

I also (having first bled them out, upside down) like to fillet, skin and debone them, cut out the dark meat and then double fillet before grilling on a pan in a bit of olive oil and butter, with a whole clove of garlic for flavour; no coating, just a grind of rock salt on the cooked side, flipping them around a couple of times, and as they are cooking, stab them with a bamboo skewer so they infuse the moisture - just mint, restaurant quality stuff.

That sounds very very tasty :tu:

I like the skewer infused moisture trick :gj:

And as far as the mint , , , , got that covered, in the garden :-D

I've tried them every way known to mankind. I can stomach them smoked when small but otherwise I just don't like them. My fish eating wife hates them. Not only do I not target them, I actively avoid them.
