Hello Everyone, new here and my name is Rob.

Post by Eggo » Wed Aug 16, 2023 11:42 am

Hello Everyone, I am new here and looking forward to getting back into fishing after some years away.

I fished a lot as a kid with my dad off the banks of lake Eildon, Murray River and a lot of Pier fishing from Frankston Pier to Stony point pier.

After many years not fishing I had a dream to own a fishing boat one day and get back into fishing.

This became a reality about 2 weeks ago when I purchase a second hand Horizon 415 Angler.

I am so happy with it.

I was looking to go fishing out of Patterson river and into the bay around Carum, Frankston area.

Looking to target whiting, Flathead and pinkies.

Anyone have any suggestions of Marks??

Welcome.
I don't have a boat but have fished and caught whiting off Balnarring and Coronet Bay. Didn't have to go far from the shore.

small flathead are just about everywhere.
grab the afn port phillip map, has a few marks in it. have a search online and you will find a few marks to get you started also.

Hello Everyone, just a quick update. I have been out a couple of time now, once from Mordialoc (gee a very low bridge that Pompei one but was able to get through no problem and once from Tooradin.

Caught my first fish as well.

I am never going from Tooradin again or Western Port for that matter, it got so shallow around low tide me along with two other got stuck in mud.

Thankfully managed to get going again and get back to the boat ramp.

The undercurrent was horrendous too, Port Phillip from now on.

Hope everyone had a great weekend fishing

Congrats on the first fish.
Yeah western port is different to Port Phillip. Generally Port Phillip Bay is easier.

well done.

i wouldnt let westernport put you off that easily.
a sounder with good mapping is very helpful.
the fishing is good and is not that difficult once you learn the basics of westernport.
