Finally got a boat

Post by beefy » Wed Jan 26, 2022 2:22 pm

Hello everyone,

done a bit of fishing since I was a kid but to be honest, I always found shore fishing quite a chore. Mind you, rock fishing was quite stimulating.

Finally bought myself an old Swiftcraft Seagull a few months ago, and had it out on the water (Westernport) for the first time a couple of weeks ago. I wish I'd done it years ago.

Looking forward to some fishing chat with you guys. I'll probably be fishing Westernport most of the time.

Ha ha, the B.O.A.T. thing is dead right. Luckily I'm very handy so most of the time it's break out another hundred or few.

I reckon a fishing boat will increase my lifespan so with a bit of luck I'll recoup my investment with less medical bills LOL.

You won't look back as the saying g goes life is better with a boat. The only problem now is you always want bigger or better.

Congrats and welcome to the forum mate.

You’ll look back at all those time you went pier fishing and think how did you do all those hours without even a bite.

Thanks everyone.

Yep, already wanting a bigger boat LOL, especially since I put a 108 litre ice box in. Wow, where did my deck go, although it did give me an extra couple of seats. I've just removed the drivers seat to give a bit more space as it was too low anyway. Replaced it with a box I stand on so I can see over the badly hazed window.

@Joher91
I sat down one day and thought of all the difficulties shore/pier fishing, compared to if I had a boat. The list grew longer and longer, and the benefits of having a boat were simply huge. Not being cramped together in the same spot and getting tangled lines (= arguments), no lugging gear around, no worry about your car being broken into when you park in some secluded location, no restrictions on how much gear you can take, no stinking out the family car, no packing/un-packing the fishing gear in the car, no huge operation to move location, etc, etc, etc, etc. The list got bigger and bigger.
I even plan on rigging up a simple table for studying and computer work, so I can do that sort of thing in a peaceful, serene environment. Of course I can have a rod over the side at the same time. Life is just beginning.
