As with any progress there are always downsides, will this new ferry terminal in Geelong effect the fishing on the Bellarine peninsula ?
Will this pristine area be spoiled for ever more ?

If you've ever fished down wind of the refinery you wouldn't be calling it pristine lol

I can't see how a few extra ships a day will harm the bellarine. It will be interesting to see the new ships they have ordered that are bigger transiting the channel

My concern is possible future dredging to deepen channels, this may alter tide flows and sand movement, sand may cover weed beds and reef, possibly creating extra non natural channels ?

Wait till they build the bridge from point Henry across corio Bay thats in the 40 year plan. May never happen. The weed beds off portarlington have taken a beating the last 18 months due high northerly winds. We are hoping the stopping of netting may help their recovery.
The netters are very active at the moment multiple reports on the local Facebook pages regarding dead fish in the water.

The last time the channel was dredged was 2014 they dredged around the quays and the turn, the waste material was dumped off point Wilson . Both areas really good snapper spots. I would expect short term issues but no lasting issues as the channel has been dredged multiple times.

There is car park at terminal, 24/7 access, but has no fishing signs

Expected the no fishing with it being considered infrastructure, didn't hear anything about it needing to be dredged either. Awesome having it in Geelong.
