EOI - Australia day long weekend Gippsland Day Trip

Post by purple5ive » Thu Jan 15, 2015 7:36 pm

Fellas,
after a few people showed some interest in doing a Gippsland Group trip I thought I Might put an EOI up.
Looking to do a FV group catchup at Marlo, land based at this stage. (if the people all coming have some sort of craft then we can make it a yak/boat trip, lol)

Date - hoping to make it the 24-25th of this month
(leave late Saturday 24th night, start fishing sunday the 25th at dawn break into the rest of the day and head for Melbourne around late afternoon, eveningish)
I know its not a long time for a fish, but that my availability due to having to get back to help with the kids, if others want to leave earlier/stay back later then that's fine
theres accommodation there closeby too, ill let someone else who has done it before explain the accomodation a bit better.

just an EOI at this stage, so lets see how many would like to go, and am open to suggestions

cheers

YEAH IT TOOK A BIT OF CONVINCING FROM THE MRS, SO WE CAME TO A AGREEMENT THAT I COME BACK SUNDAY!!

ive been going to Marlo for the last 38 years and pretty much know every thing there is to but i still learn something different everytime i go.??

Easiest Accommodation is to stay at the 'Marlo Park' Gerorgie and Mark 035154 8226, they have everything, BBQ's, Boat cleaning area, motel units or budget cabins.

hopefully they wont be booked out.

if anyone else is going up let me know

Wow. You must know the place line the back of your hand. If no one is interested here I may bring my boat down and join youfor a day.
Do you fish with lures/bait or both. Im also catch and release mostly. And use lures only. .
Cheers

IM bringing my boat down to get to a few "spots", as some are pretty much guaranteed to get fish.

I use lures plastics and hard bodies and also use live prawns and worm.

Catch and release is the way to go but i love a feed of fresh mullet or trevally, i dont keep any bream, perch or flatties just take a pic and let them go.

Hope to get a few live prawns for bait and the bream cant resist them.

its also a walk from Motts beach back towards the Narrow as its only ab out knee deep for hundreds of metres and have caught some monster flatties there, i wont say any more as ill be giving away the 'spots' ha ha .
so if you can get there, we ll chat next week cheers

I'll be away camping that weekend unfortunately, but looking forward to a report. Look into accommodation soon as I'm guessing it will pack out over Australia day weekend. I've stayed at this place before and it was really nice and cheap:

I think we paid $110 a night for three of us, so worked out to only ~$37 a night each. And it's dog friendly if anyone takes their pup fishing
