Surf rod recommendation

Post by Keenfisho » Sun Dec 08, 2019 9:20 pm

Hey guys,

As the heading suggests I’m looking for surf rod recommendations. My old silstar 12ft is just not cutting the mustard anymore

My mate has a Daiwa 13ft sensor sandstorm which I like but i feel the but is just a bit long for me. I seen a shimano aerowave that I like the look of but the local store doesn’t have any in stock to have a feel does anyone have one of these that they could give me a recommendation on?

Looking for around 13-14tf and it will mainly be used of the 90 mile with a $250 budget.

Thanks gents

There's few topics about surf rods in this forum, discussed in the past. Do a quick search and you'll find them.
In short comment, Daiwa sensor is good.
With that price range, you can get Penn Prevail, which suggested a lot here in the past by few people.
Aerowave is a bit heavy and bulky.

Aeroweave or Prevail are the usual recommendations on here.

You might be able to find a Nitro Surf Messiah for that kind of money ( I did ) second hand and you should buy one if you can. I fish almost exclusively with Assassins these days and they make several rods which would fit the bill for you.

Thanks heaps for the reply’s guys. I actually nearly bought a aerowave today so glad I didn’t now. They have a prevail in store but unsure on the 14’6 ft. I’m not that tall and was wondering how I would go casting it.

What do you want the rod for . Is just for salmon or do want it for gummys at night .
