Well, just filleted it’s and I’m very impressed with the amount of meat. Smells delicious too, sort of like crab, the fillets look a bit messy because I don’t like washing them in fresh water. I’ll give an update of how it tastes later tonight in case anyone’s interested.

How are you planning on cooking it?

I’ll probably grill it just so I can get an accurate gage of how it tastes. Maybe pan fry, haven’t decided.

Well, I just grilled and ate the beaked salmon along with a red mullet and I’m surprised and pleased to say that the beaked salmon was actually better, more flavour, and a firmer texture. The beaked salmon had a distinct taste sort of like crab and sort of like the smell of the ocean, absolutely beautiful, I left the skin on and that was also really good. I definitely think it outclassed the red mullet by a significant margin and red mullet are one of my favourites. Won’t hesitate to spear one if I ever encounter another in the future, doubt that’ll be any time soon though.

Technically, assuming you were wading under 2m of water at the low tide mark, you would have been breaking the law by collecting the molluscs.
