Mixed bag in Westernport
G'day guys,
Last weekend my mate and I were feeling a little nostalgic, so we headed to a little beach in Westernport that we used to fish heavily with bait before we caught this lure disease. It always produced a lot of whiting for us in the past but there were enough salmon, trevally and pinkies mixed in there to convince us that it was worth throwing some lures around. So we chucked the dogs in the car and off we went! We started off throwing plastics around without a touch, until my mate tied on a blade and first cast he was on!
To a nice little salmon - not a bad start. Despite my mate suggesting I should tie on a blade to get some extra casting distance, I decided to persist with my plastic. A couple of casts later and my mate was on again:
This time to a little trev. Well by the time he'd unhooked and released his fish, I'd ditched my plastic and had tied on a blade as well. And it didn't take me long to hook up...
To a crab hah! And she was chock-full of eggs and extremely angry, and she wasn't making it easy to untangle her. After a few unhelpful comments from my mate (something along the lines of 'nice fish') I finally got her untangled and a couple of casts later I was on again:

To an actual fish! A female bluethroat wrasse, and a first for me on a lure. After this it went quiet for about an hour or so and we were contemplating heading off when my blade got absolutely smashed! After a really solid fight this guy came up:
A nice trev around the 40cm mark. We had a few more casts without any more interest, but we headed home well and truly satisfied
Cheers!

Quality Trev. I recognise that blade and remember thinking about getting a couple but can't remember the name. What are they?
