You may get flatties further out but as it dries out As it dries out so far when tide goes out would'nt expect to see them around pier.

I’m actually moving down there next year, pretty interested in the yak fishing. How much time do you usually get out there without being caught dragging the yak through the mud?
Something like 5 hours over a high, and you are out for 7+ hours over a low with no return in the meantime. Not a huge amount of tide flow, and no real channels until way out so its pretty easy. 2-3m deep for a fair way out.

I live 2 hours away, so to make the 4 hour drive worth it I fish over the low as they are longer sessions. It’s also a cruisy paddle out with the falling tide and back to launch with the rising tide. I’ve only caught gummies and one flathead that jumped on a bare hook dangling in the water while I was sorting a gummy out.
