I have removed the post count for now.

You can still see the Top Posters on the home page or if you view any specific member's profile.

The ranking system is still in place.

Let's see if this actually makes a difference to the quality of the content posted on the site...

Still open for discussion as it can easily be reverted back.

Cheers
At this stage it seems members feel that "post counts" need to go. If they don't have any benefit, and only attract negativity and animosity, let's get rid of them. Thanks for listening Jon!
I do feel we should keep the ranking system though, however not base it on numbers of posts. Instead, how about we have a ranking system based on membership duration? For example, maybe a different fish icon for 1 / 3 / 6 months / 1 / 2 / 3 / 5 / 10+ years?
What do you reckon??

Sounds like a good idea, but we do already see the Date Joined which gives an indication of membership duration.

Would take a bit of messing with the Code, but probably could be done if other members think it's a better option?

I think it would improve the site if member rankings were based on likes received instead of post counts. Then members would actually be rewarded for improving the quality of the site instead of being rewarded for watering down quality threads.

Nice decision.
Pretty sure it will not I'mprove quality of my pics or my one line reports.
Reward system is only going make posters with average writing probably feel worse.
Judge less forum gets my vote.
Thumbs down to getting rewarded for the proposed like system.....what's next Top Fan ( poster) badge.
To many boats kayak, helicopter , catch a fish, catch a fish

Judge less. get rid of elitist attitudes and make it fun. One addition I would suggest is a sub forum not linked to the main page for irrelevant **** talk.

Call it the shed or something off topic shenanigans can go there.

Scientific evidence shows that post count has a direct correlation to the size of a specific appendage
You just shot your self on your own appendage.

Look at your stats.

You joined a little over 2 years ago and you have over 2000 posts.

Many of us here joined 2011 or earlier and we havent reached 8000 in more than 8 years.

At the rate you are going, you are ranked second.
You are just a few posts away from overtaking LX if you consider the membership tenure.
What can I say? I have a lot of free time to allow myself to post a mighty 2.5 times per day

The only time I ever see you post is to whinge. Lol... put a smile on your face. Life is too short to be miserable and upset.

We do already have this Sub-Forum -> Bay 13

If you log out as if you were not a member you will see Bay 13 is actually not visible.

There is no way to prevent kids becoming members so once they join, they can view Bay 13. I am not aware of any online age verification software that actually works...

Bay 13 is a section for shenanigans, however, the swearing, troll posts, and abuse of recent times is against the Forum Terms and simply isn't going to be tolerated moving forward.

There is always a line that shouldn't be crossed.
