Gone fishing day Outing

Post by purple5ive » Tue Oct 22, 2019 9:23 am

Fellas.
the weather was terrible, but i hope some of you got a chance to wet a line on Gone fishing Day

i had the Obligatory fish to mark the day, the weather had other plans of course, 20knot winds in a small open boat was a terrible idea
But we persevered and got onto around 15 squid. Didnt measure any as they werent monsters but around 6 or 7 were similar sized as pictured. Rest smaller. Released a few small ones as well.

the weather then calmed down enough for me to use sidescan effectively, and i found what i was looking for.
caught a few and called it a day!
This fish went 62cm and took me over 20 mins to land on 6lb line.
My cousin landed his PB at 65cm as well..

the one i got mate certainly tested the gear, i was extremely suprised at the size when i seen it as i thought it would be a bigger fish with the way it fought.
you can tell when you hook a biggie, after the tell tale tick in the line and strike it feels like you have hooked a snag for the first few seconds, and then all hell breaks loose..
