anyone catching Gars?
Hi guys/gals,
has anyone had any luck catching garfish around Port Phillip Bay lately?
My usual gar spots at the northern end of PPB haven't been producing and I am keen to catch some of these tasty little fish.
Thanx in advance!

yup, yakka in Sorrento pier was thick last year, so was the cala. This year is disappointing in cala scene (LB)Beno wrote:No success for 2 months, this time last year they were everywhere including the yakkas. I am able to get the odd one but that is all..... :doh1:
I think there's too much snapper in the bay this year that they ate most of the cala ang yakka on their way in.

it took a no 6 circle hook loaded with a piece of prawn off the bottom
from now on there should be some big gars making there way into WP this one went 39.5 cm but this time last year there were plenty around the mid 30 cms
by the way it didn't go in the bait bucket we got 2 very nice boneless fillets and were realy nice in egg and breadcrumbs
