Where to buy live/fresh bait in Melbourne?

Hi

Does anyone know where you should go to buy live bait here in Melbourne/surrounding suburbs?

Do any of the markets sell them? i.e. Footscray

there's fresh fish at queen vic markets

Most tackle shops sell fresh frozen bait & if not happy with that , then just go to your local fish monger & you will get edible fresh fish "google search your local fish retailer" .

footscray fish market at 5am lol freshest bait you can get that arrive early in the morning lol

Depends on your location really! Fish Shops are good, Markets are better!
I normally head to Springvale and load up b4 a trip

I have seen, fresh water yabbies, bass yabbies, worms, including beach worms being sold live. You could buy a live Barramundi from the markets.

Never seen white or blue bait (blue bait is actually pilchards that have been brined) being sold live.

Generally if live fish is used as bait, then it is caught by the angler and kept alive, some land based have used a blow up kids swimming pool as a bait tank.

One episode of Adventure Bound showed them scooping red rockets out of the water with a net.

There's a bottle o/tackle shop on 295 Geelong Road in Footscray or Kingsville that sells live baits. they have most of the basics needed for a fishing outing and you can get all y our refreshments too. I've bought fresh water yabbies and European Night Crawlers from them before and you can also buy bass yabbies from there too. i think with the bass you goota order them a few hours in advanced.

There is a shop in sunshine next to the tackle shop that sells live everything from prawns to barra go have a look in there unbelievable I could not believe what I was seeing.
