Hey all,
heading to portland soon and just wondering how people go about targetting the kings there. obviously fishing the north shore is shallow meaning jigging isnt practical. so just wondering some of the methods of targetting them. thanks

Re: portland kingfish
Lee breakwall. Squid strip 2m under a float. I've never tried but there's a lot of good posts on this forum that all say this.

Re: portland kingfish
You can do one of two things,
Anchor anywhere from the water tank down to the abalone farm in around 10 metres and berley like hell, this will do two things,
bring your fresh bait to you and also the kings. Have a bait under a balloon, one halfway down and one on the bottom.
You can troll as well, I use x raps but the lures are your choice, trolling in the same areas. If trolling look for birds working as there are a few school tuna and salmon around as well.
A high barometer is your friend.
Good luck
