LIVE AUSSIE CRAYFISH COST IN DUBAI

Post by Paulanderson » Sat Jul 02, 2022 1:44 pm

I was wandering the Mall of the Emirates last night (after 4 hours over 2 days I have still not seen it all) and the enormous supermarket/everything store had large live Aussie crayfish (called rock lobsters) for about $140 a kilo. Would be interesting to know where they came from.

Mostly from western Australia, small amounts from Tas. SA, and Vic. They go to a range of new markets. Dubia. Japan. Thailand, Korea etc. Commonwealth gov provided a grant to expand exports after China stopped importing them. The market is now very close to the price before China went stupid and tried the punish Aussie markets
There's nothing . . . absolutely nothing . . . half so much worth doing as simply messing around in boats.

I don't know about you guys but I prefer the east coast crayfish to west coast I reckon they taste better could it be due to water temperature

Many thanks re-tyred. Good to see Australian fisheries being supported.
