PURR WENT THE CATFISH

Post by Paulanderson » Sun Jan 11, 2015 12:05 am

I tried out a new spot this morning close to Lusaka and was driven mad by tiny Tilapia but by the time the worms ran out had caught 3 Barbel Fish (a variety of Catfish) plus a few half decent Tilapia. Barbel are quite powerful and lots of fun on a trout rod and 4 kg line. They are also very good at finding snags and I lost 2 others. Barbel can taste a bit muddy anyway will give these a go with plenty of pepper and spices wrapped up in foil on a BBQ.

I forgot to mention was raining cats and dogs most of the time and holding a rod in one hand and an umbrella in the other makes for challenging fishing when you hook something.
