is this S 38deg 17.5min 3 sec or is it S 38deg 17min 50.3sec or is it S 38.17503 deg? every thing I place on my map looks wrong. much appreciated john

Format is as follows:
S38 17.503
E144 38.461

I put the list into an excel spreadsheet and then used a formula to put them into the correct format because I was transposing too many of them incorrectly trying to do it as I went.
=IF(LEFT(A1,1)="S",(LEFT(A1,3)&" "&(MID(A1,4,2))&"."&(RIGHT(A1,3))),(LEFT(A1,4)&" "&(MID(A1,5,2))&"."&(RIGHT(A1,3))))

A lot of them come from a book ( https://books.google.com.au/books/about ... TB2mZLyV4C ) so there's nothing too special about them, I think the ones in the Rip and offshore are his charter ones though.
