St Kilda Pier Fishing

St Kilda Pier is a great land-based fishing location. It’s also home to one of Melbourne’s cutest attractions!
We’ve been working with Parks Victoria on how to keep these little guys safe, so that their colony is thriving whilst providing an inner city spot for fishers to cast a line.
You can fish along St Kilda Pier and from the pathway and boardwalk within the penguin viewing area. There are signs to show you the areas where fishing isn’t permitted so the penguins don’t get hassled.
Please stick to the fishable areas, give the penguins a wide berth and double check you’ve collected rubbish and fishing line. By removing all commercial netting from Port Phillip, we are already reducing hazards that have previously impacted the penguins.
Enjoy your fishing, it’s snapper time! Stay warm.
