Coronavirus fishing and boating update - Friday, 22 October 2021


From 11:59pm on Thursday, 21 October, Melbourne's lockdown restrictions have been lifted. Lockdown has also ended in the Rural City of Mildura and changes to restrictions have been made to selected rules for regional Victoria. You can find out what it means for you below:

Metropolitan Melbourne
In metropolitan Melbourne the reasons to leave home no longer apply and you can leave home without any limit on time. The 9pm-5am curfew no longer applies. Limits on the distance you can travel within metropolitan Melbourne have been removed, however travel between metropolitan Melbourne and regional Victoria is not permitted for recreational activities such as fishing and boating.

Activities such as fishing and boating are permitted in groups of up to 15 people. Face masks must be worn at all times unless a lawful exemption applies. Metropolitan Melbourne residents cannot travel into regional Victoria for the purposes of exercise, such as fishing.

Regional Victoria
In regional Victoria, the reasons to leave home do not apply and there is no distance or time limit when you leave home.

Recreational boating and fishing are permitted in regional Victoria in groups of up to 20 people. A face mask must be worn at all times, unless a lawful exemption applies. Regional Victorian residents cannot travel into metropolitan Melbourne for the purposes of exercise and recreation, such as fishing or boating.

Regional Victorian residents can to launch a vessel and travel along the Murray River provided they do not dock or set foot on the New South Wales side of the river.

The Golden Tag Competition remains suspended due to the restrictions on travel within Victoria.

Restrictions will be further eased when Victoria reaches 80% of the eligible (16+) population being fully vaccinated.

It’s essential to get tested if you have even the mildest of symptoms and book a vaccination if you haven't done so already.

This is stupid fully vaxed people can come straight into Melbourne but melburnians that are fully vaxed can’t leave metro Melbourne to go to regional Melbourne
