500th trout on the last day of the season.

Catching my 500th trout of the 2020/21 trout season came down to the last day of the season.. Yesterday (Sat) I only needed three trout to reach my target, had a late start and found the areas I was to fish already had people in the water. I headed back to the lower Mersey River where I struggled to find the trout, I did manage to catch and release two trout and hooked and lost the much needed third fish. This morning I headed to the Meander River and was there early and started fishing (7:25) in fog and very cool conditions with plenty of water pushing down the river. There wasn't a sign of a trout to be had for nearly 30 minutes, it wasn't until I flicked the Mepps #0 copper Black Fury into a fast water run when it was hit hard and fast. Thankfully this 505 gram fish stayed on and I had my 500th for the season in the net, once in the net out popped the spinner.
The next trout was caught at 8:25, it was a solid fish too, that fish went 645 grams, it also tossed the spinner once it was in the net. I fished for another forty minutes without a single follow from a trout so called it a day. I achieved what I set out to do this morning so had no need to push on, my 2020/21 season was done & dusted..
