charter report 3/2/13

Post by Master-pro » Sun Feb 03, 2013 6:00 pm

Hi guys, the charter wasn't really what i expected but it was Ok. The worst thing about it is
that it took the guy 1 hour to get to the first spot (which nobody got a bite at) and then a whole hour to get back.
When we moved to the second spot a few pinkies were being caught from other people all the fish where borderline legal so they were chucked back. Then i saw my rod (2-4 kg) buckle over so i quickly grabbed it expecting a big pinkie as it was fighting hard. Borderline legal again so not a keeper. A few rokc cod were also being caught and then we moved to a third and final spot. Soon as we drop our baits we were getting bites, 2 pinkies 24 and 27 cm caught in 5 mins and then a guy near the front dropped a 6
kg gummy! I caught a few small flatties and a few more pinkies and the landed this 31cm Flathead which i kept. in the end i was pretty happy but i wish we had more fishing time. Only 4 legal pinkies caught the whole trip by everyone.

How much did you pay for that flatty?

Sorry to hear it wasn't all you were hoping for mate. I've found charters to be a disappointment more often than not - I thought it was just me!

At least you brought home some very expensive flatty tails :) :cook2:

Two charters that I recommend are Classic Fishing Charters out of Warneet or RealAdventure out of Yaringa harbour.

I'm going on a charter this coming Saturday morning, Melbourne Fishing Charters, leaving St Kilda pier at 5am. I got given a voucher for it for my birthday last September and thought I better use it before it expires. Not expecting too much from it, kinda hoping for a good whiting session, if not maybe get onto some pinkies. But I will post a report when we're done to let people know how we went.
