Stockyard Point - 12/11/11

Post by Beno » Sun Nov 13, 2011 1:45 pm

Hey All

Tried fishing at stockyard point yesterday with my brother, fished from low and the incoming tide to only catch a small salmon and eagle ray. Was perfect conditions in the morning but then blew up heavily in the afternoon.

Anyone been having any luck at Stockyard lately?

Cheers Beno

I'll give you a hint, though it's been a while since I was there. Fish just to the right of that white bucket in the pic.

Where those 2 rods are in the pvc holders, is sand flats out to about 200m and only really any good at dusk and after or just on dawn.

Cheers Brett, we moved over there as soon as they left but only got the ray. Will try again. I did have success the first time we went there where those pvc rod holders were, Caught elelphants though that was in elephant season.

yep, when the ellies are there, you can fish shallow. But now you'll get very little, you may get something, but not as good a chance as if you move to the right.

Don't bust ya balls to cast into the channel either, fish right on the edge of it, put one rod out wide and put the other on the edge of the drop.

If you're going out wide in the channel, 6oz upto possibly 10oz. I think some guys go even bigger.

Yeah I did see your yellow yak and a red yak? Did you get in before it chopped up?

Yes there was heaps of debris icluding lots of thorn bushes right where we were standing, dangerous to the feet. :o
