First time fishing Portland

Hello fellow anglers,
A friend and I are heading out to Portland for a week at the end of May. Just hoping for a little advice. We are both quite experienced fishers in Port Phillip Bay but have never gone on our own in Portland, and as I've seen there seems to be some Abalone disease and fishing restrictions currently within the Portland area which means we can't fish close to the port area.
What we do have is as follows:
4.9 meter Haines Signature
90hp 4 stroke Suzuki outboard.
Rods
Reels
Tackle
Landing net
Life jacket.

What we don't have are the following (which are obtainable, apart from the VHF course at this stage):
VHF Radio
EPERB
Gaff

If anyone could help us out with some advice as to where to go and what to get that would be very much appreciated.

Thank You
Slippery_gypsy

Slippery,
You will also need to purchase a parachute flare if you are heading further than 2nm offshore (same as epirb)
The tuna are beyond the 100m line at the moment which is way beyond the no go zone due to this abalone virus. The restrictions might be lifted on the 11th, we will just have to wait and see. Nigel at the Compleat Angler is very helpful so a recommendation is to pay him a visit before you head out and seek some advice from him.

Thanks for that canned.
I will definitely get one of those and pop in and see Nigel.. It always pays to pop in and speak to locals

Also if anyone else will be in the area fishing that week, I'd love to catch up and have a chat, or if anyone is willing to let me shadow their boat even better

If the weather isn't great for heading way offshore it might be better to fish in closer at Port Fairy.
