Smile Sheepwash report 22/01/23

Post by Leonard » Sun Jan 22, 2023 9:10 pm

Hi all,

Just a quick report from Sheepwash yesterday:

Time: 6pm-10:30pm
Tide: 5:25pm low, 12:06am high

It was my first time at the spot and I really enjoyed it. I also made a point of picking up some extra rubbish to hopefully keep it that way (thinking of the broken window effect here)!

For others thinking of heading there, I highly recommend some crocs or other shoes you aren't too attached to unless you're ok with going barefoot on the sand and rocks.

It was very quiet until sunset, which coincided with more incoming flow. I managed a few large mullet and a good trevally. After dark, and with the mullet, my mind immediately went to mulloway. - Back out the mullet went.

Just before leaving at 10 my 4000 thunnus began to go, though the run wasn't huge. I thought it would be a small mulloway, but after a short fight involving a snag and some faith I was very surprised to pull in a 38cm pinkie! It attacked a mullet nearly half its length and far wider than what it could swallow!

Cheers,
Leo

PS. I reduced the quality from the original images down to 5% to get them to fit the site's max size. It resulted in some cool colours and patterns so I'll leave them as they are :)
