Breamster

That is a nice luderick i have caught some big ones before under floats using prawns on the south coast NSW and some smaller ones in Vic.

But that one is a torpedo did you catch it on Bream gear what line and gear were you using as they usually dive for cover among rocks weed you would almost need a game rod for that one

Your pretty casual about it but that is a great catch.

Yes Shooto, I caught him with my bream gear. Due to the strong tidal current & snags, I use 20lb mono line on my reel so that I don't lose all my sinkers but I use a 2-5kg 7ft rod so I can get the maximum feel of the fish strength.

I like ludericks because they are very cunning. They take the bait lightly you think its a mullet. Once hooked they usually torpedo themselves to the nearest coral, rocks or weeds & wrap your line around these structures. You have to be quick or lose them. They are strong fish & fight harder & harder the closer you pull them to the shore. This one put up a great fight, one I will remember for a long time.

The more patient you are and the harder you try, the luckier you get. ;-)
There is no such thing as a stupid question, only a stupid answer.

The biggest luderick caught in Australia was a crazy 3.88kg. My lude didn't quite make it into the record book. However, this lude did make it onto the BBQ. With a couple of cold beers & hot chilly, lemon & ginger dipping sauce... quote "heaven on earth"

:water: Well done breammster, i fish for them in nsw but usually with a float and weed for bait, also burly with sand and finally chopped weed. i asked about them down here but none of the fishing shops or locals fished for them . Will have a go now ill settle for 27cnt or so.
